“And Unto Them a Peep Was Born…

December 25, 2008

…and they wrapped them in swaddling cellophane and laid them in a cardboard cradle.

“And lo the angel of merchandising appeared to them in an ad and said unto the lowly housewives on the suburbanized hills:

“Herk, go ye to the store called Joann, with an address on the Post Road in Milford, and there ye shall find them. It’s just past the mall (second light on the right passed the AT&T store– yes, there is one IN the mall too, but there’s also one OUTSIDE the mall– just Go and you’ll see the sign! It’s next to the Staples and the Walmart, for Chrissake! Don’t you have a GPS by now?).”

And so, the lowly housewives went, one by one in their beasts of van and 4x, to the store in the stripmall, which was sore hidden by the Barnes and Noble there. And they found the Easter Peeps, pink and crowded in their cardboard mangers, asleep and waiting the after Christmas sales.

Now the Peeps were attended by the high and lowly there already. The animals of the Black Chocolate Forest had come to worship them, protectively sealed to keep them from melting in the temperature controlled store.

And the saints and angels on High School, with their tidings of love they brought, in box and card form.

And so the store, Joann, was rife with the love of the season, in the colors of red for the blood of the peeps that had sacrificed themselves in seasons before them, and the color of silver, for all the bright shining glory of the Peep season to come.

This is just one of the many wonderful reasons I love you, Elizabeth.

Lane, I think you are the only person who got this. Or read this. Or both. I think this is one of my best posts ever. What is the sound a blog post falling in a forest?
