The Big Question March 2012: What is Eating You?

In March, the BIG QUESTION is this:

What is eating you?

Food: that thing which fuels our bodies. But it’s so much more than that to us. It’s our friend and our enemy.

In the month of March, during the season of Lent and leading up to Passover, I’m thinking about food. I know you are too… we all think about it all the time, seems like. We think about its cost, its weight, its gravity, its origins, its development. It is like a child to us, one we consume.

We all get hungry now and then. And we all eat when we are not. Why? What is eating us?

Let’s think about food, ย its pleasures and its utility, this March.

    what is eating me, at current, is the price(and quality)of bread. how can flour, yeast and water cost 3+ dollars a loaf and still taste like shit? this grievance has inspired me to make my own bread (sans a bread machine). i found a great refrigerator bread dough recipe that takes no time or effort and yields a lovely artisan loaf of bread. now that i have the original recipe down, i’m starting to play with different flours and liquids for even more yummy flavor. my pocketbook and ass are heavier…my taste buds are happy…and my creative energy is flowing. win. win. win.

      Zanne, homemade bread needs all the credit it deserves. It’s so HUMBLE yet so perfect. It’s a metaphor for life… that we have to enjoy the journey too… XO my darling and keep on baking. I think I will post the beer bread recipe, in honor of you!
