Happy International Women's Day! Let's all keep on Happy International Women's Day! Let's all keep on smashing the patriarchy! You can even join in and smash the patriarchy if you identify as a man! What is the #patriarchy? According to the @psychoanalysis4all: "Patriarchy is a set of cultural rules and values that specify how men and women should be and act. "(Patriarchy) is based on a belief that men have an inherent right to dominate and that women should be subservient, selfless caregivers. "One example of the persistence of this gender hierarchy is America’s ever-growing body of laws restricting women’s #reproductivefreedom . "This hierarchy polarizes human capacities into “masculine” traits (stoicism, self-reliance, rationality) versus “feminine” attributes (emotional sensitivity, selflessness, relationality). "Patriarchy overvalues the masculine, harming men and women by forcing the former to act as if they don’t have or need relationships and the latter to act as if they don’t have or need a self." Understanding that a #patriarchalsociety and its ideals underpins (and burdens!) so many of our inherently #American ways of life is crucial. Individuality, violence, conquering, #manifestdestiny, self-reliance ... pulling oneself up by one's bootstraps! Letting go of these patriarchal ways of viewing our cultural "self" will allow for much healing and growth. Do you consider yourself a #Feminist? Regardless of how you identify in gender, #fourthwavefeminism has a place for you. “Modern feminism is what ‘feminism’ at its core has always been about: striving for equal rights for all people, regardless of gender,” says Heenali Patel @hpwriting. “Being a modern feminist involves campaigning to change the law for a fairer society; challenging sexist attitudes and gender stereotypes; and showing solidarity with others who fight for the rights of oppressed groups.” I hope we can all be more like #wonderwoman and work diligently to #smashthepatriarchy -- giving not just women, but all people the freedom to equally among each other, to live their best lives. ❤️ 💋💥🥊

I'm not sure when I started becoming aware that "less is more" -- was I always this way?
