What it Reveals

#reverb10 prompt for 12/25:

Photo – a present to yourself. Sift through all the photos of you from the past year. Choose one that best captures you; either who you are, or who you strive to be. Find the shot of you that is worth a thousand words. Share the image, who shot it, where, and what it best reveals about you.

I took these pics of myself with my iPhone Hipstamatic app one day during at lull at a soccer game. The soccer game was one of those surprising alone times, an entire hour just sitting on the sidelines, hollering now and then, but mostly lost in thought.

These images reveal in me a truth of the human condition:

We are all haunted by sorrow, angst, fear and personal darkness every now and then.

Some days more than others.

Some people more than others.

It’s OK. This too shall pass.

“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.”

–William Shakespeare
